The Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation is emphasizes that the spaces embracing public art, like A Monumental Journey, are places that can inspire us to deepen observations and exchange different views, perceptions, thoughts, and feelings. Giving form to a shared notion of civic identity continues to bring art and spectator together.

A new video about “A Monumental Journey” has captured interviews, footage of events, programs, collaborations, construction, and relevant moments throughout this compelling public art process.

We are making great strides, including increasing free on-line education resources and publishing scholarly essays! Developing stories and connections between public art and the viewer is especially important for young people — encouraging them to find their own stories and connections.

Through our public art programs, events, and community activities we have fulfilled the organization’s mission. We place the best of art in public spaces through public and private collaborations and we are adding to these achievements as we work toward the future. #dsmpublicart
