Nick Cave “Soundsuit” Horses Dance at Grand Central

A markedly more colorful sort of herd than the typical flood of commuters: 30 Nick Cave Soundsuit Horses Will Dance Around Grand Central Terminal in March.

As part of the bustling station’s centennial celebration over the coming months, some 60 dancers dressed in Nick Cave’s trademark “Soundsuits” will wander around the Manhattan transit hub behaving like 30 grazing horses, intermittently breaking into choreographed dance routines.

The project, a co-production by Creative Time and the Metropolitan Transit Authority’s Arts for Transit program, is dubbed “HEARD•NY” and will run March 25-31. When not being worn around the terminal, the Soundsuit sculptures will be on view in Vanderbilt Hall (42nd St — between Vanderbilt and Lexington Aves — New York) for free.
