Des Moines, Iowa: Through its ongoing “Project Spaces” initiative, the Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation proudly presents a temporary installation by visual artist Travis Rice at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. The artist was selected to design a project especially for the west façade of the Patty and Jim Cownie Cultural Center. The installation will remain on view through Sunday, August 18, 2013.

A native of Iowa, Travis Rice makes use of geometric forms and colorful materials to create simple and playful abstractions. He has created artworks on both a large and small scale, in both two and three-dimensional formats. For the 2013 State Fair, Rice’s large-scale installation visualizes a pattern and the movement of colors. It is printed on a continuous vinyl surface with overall dimensions of 8 by 84 feet.
