The City of Bondurant, the Bondurant Community Library, and the Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation are seeking Iowa-based artists or artist teams to create an outdoor sculpture or sculptural installation for the Bondurant Community Library. Located just 15 miles east of Des Moines, Bondurant is a growing city known for its parks, trails, and recent public art initiatives, including the Creative Water Tower project and installations at Lake Petocka and Eagle Park. The library, a cornerstone of the community since 1976, expanded in 2021 to a modern 14,000-square-foot facility.
This project, funded by local organizations and a Capacity Building Grant from the Iowa Arts Council, aims to reflect Bondurant’s identity and inspire residents and visitors. The sculpture will serve as a prominent artistic addition to the city, embodying the library’s role as a community hub and Bondurant’s commitment to public art.
The Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation, a leader in fostering public art through community collaborations, will oversee the artist selection and installation. Interested artists are encouraged to develop concepts that celebrate Bondurant’s heritage, cultural vibrancy, and connection to nature.
