The Youth Have Spoken
The Youth Have Spoken, a mural located at Evelyn K. Davis Park, was created from the question: What does community mean to you? Made by the artists Jill Wells, Marissa Hernandez, and the summer campers of the 2023 Parks and Recreation youth camp. Behind the teal background of the mural the youth summer campers wrote hidden messages; “love is love”, “we are all different, but we are all human”, “We all together”, “Be you”.
Through the sense of touch, the 3D mural project reinvents the ways a person interacts with art. Tactile interaction allows users to feel the textures and forms in the murals, providing a multi-sensory experience. All murals include a braille visual description, and audio description. The art of the 3D mural project aims to enhance accessibility, promote an understanding of disabilities, and culturally enrich the community.
