Kerry James Marshall Is Shifting the Color of Art History

Kerry James Marshall, one of the most celebrated artists currently working in the United States, created a new public art project called A Monumental Journey to honor the 12 founders of the National Bar Association in Des Moines, Iowa. The project will be located in Hansen Triangle Park in downtown Des Moines.

For more than 40 years, the Chicago-based artist has made it his mission to paint black figures into the canon.
