Resources for families and educators

In 2012, the GDMPAF began collaborating with Renée Shull Harmon of the Business/Education Alliance to create resources for families and educators that deepen understandings and enhance experiences of public art in Greater Des Moines. These resources developed in two stages.

The first-stage resources are for schools, after school programs, individuals and families. Accessible overviews of artworks, discussion questions, suggested readings and links to related activities allow interested viewers to dig deeply and engage more meaningfully with ten of the approximately 140 of public art pieces in the GDMPAF collection.

The second-stage resources will include multidisciplinary themes to support classroom teachers and families. These projects are currently under development and will connect to the Common Core Curriculum and Iowa Early Learning Standards for pre-K to 12 students.
