Useful Resources on Public Art

In 2012, the GDMPAF began creating free educational resources for families and educators that deepen understandings and enhance experiences of public art in Greater Des Moines. These useful resources developed in two stages.

The first-stage resources are for schools, after school programs, individuals and families. Accessible overviews of artworks, discussion questions, suggested readings and links to related activities allow interested viewers to dig deeply and engage more meaningfully with 20 of the approximately 160 of public art works throughout Greater Des Moines.

The second-stage resources will include multidisciplinary themes to support classroom teachers and families. These projects are currently under development and will connect to the Common Core Curriculum and Iowa Early Learning Standards for pre-K to 12 students.
