Des Moines International Airport Public Art Project

An airport is more than just a transportation vehicle. It’s a critical business hub, an instrumental connector for friends and family, and an elemental link for visitors. For many, their first impression of Des Moines is through the Des Moines International Airport. And with the new terminal, we have the opportunity to ensure that this first impression portrays Des Moines as the vibrant, innovative, and culturally rich city we know and love. Public art in our airport tells Des Moines’ story. The Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation is committed to ensuring that this story inspires visitors and residents alike. The Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation and the Des Moines Airport Authority are grateful to the generous donors listed below, whose contributions to-date will enable us to realize five expansive and engaging installations of public art that will be in place when the new terminal opens in late 2026.
