Sally Vagliano Pettus studied at Sarah Lawrence College and the Cleveland Institute of Art. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States including at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, NY, McNay Art Institute in San Antonio, TX, and the Columbus Museum of Art, Ohio. Pettus has shown in New York at the Fischbach Gallery, The AM Sachs Gallery, the Katarina Rich Perlow Gallery, and the Peter Findlay Gallery in New York. Corporate and museum collections include General Mills, Inc, Western Electric Company, British Petroleum, and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and the Des Moines Art Center.

Since the mid 70’s, Pettus’ art has focused primarily on images depicting the natural world. Her career as a painter of woodland scenes burgeoned in the 1980s. In 2000, she began creating bronze sculptures that became distinctive versions of leaves, trees, tree bark with gold leaf, and strange animals. Roger Kimball, editor of The New Criterion and publisher of Encounter Books, wrote that “these beautifully crafted objects beguile the eye.”  1
